In late 2017, I attended two AMD events, one on AMD's Ryzen Mobile processor, and the second on AMD's Ryzen Pro for Australia's workforce, and they're available for you to watch, in full.
Yes, I know, I should have published these videos earlier, and I apologise for the delay. Indeed, in future, I will publish all videos on the day I record them (barring embargoes, of course), so I'm never late with any videos I ever publish, ever again.
With that said, here are the two videos in question.
The first is from October 2017, and was described by AMD as "a major update on the upcoming Ryzen Mobile APUs and what this will mean for the mobile computing market".
{loadposition alex08}The lunchtime event was "a pre-briefing in anticipation of new notebook releases expected to be available in the coming months from major brands like Acer, Lenovo, HP and more".
Hosting the event was AMD's Joe Macri, corporate vice-president and product chief technology officer, Jason Banta, director of Product Management, and Peter Chambers, director, Consumer Sales – Asia Pacific & Japan.
These Ryzen Mobile processors are claimed to be "joining the hugely successful Ryzen desktop processors which brought much needed competition back to the market".
Indeed, the company states: "Ryzen Mobile is a completely new design integrating the efficient 'Zen'-based CPU cores and high-performance 'Vega' graphics together. This processor has been designed for premium 2-in-1s, ultraportables and gaming form factors, and will see AMD re-enter the premium mobile PC market with a number of designs."
AMD's executivess briefed the Australian media (and thus you, dear readers and viewers) on why it believes that "these first 'Zen'-based mobile processors will bring innovation and excitement to the premium mobile computing market befitting a product carrying the powerful Ryzen brand".
The second video was dubbed "AMD's Ryzen PRO for Australia's workforce" and was recorded at a lunchtime press event.
Speaking was Jason Mooneyham, worldwide corporate vice-president for Commercial, and John Hampton, director for World Wide Commercial Client Business Development for AMD.
Both are described by AMD as being "instrumental in having millions of units shipped to large volume tenders and Fortune 500 enterprises".
Finally, these videos were filmed before the current Intel CPU bugs dubbed Spectre and Meltdown became public knowledge earlier this week, so there is no discussion in the videos above. Although all Intel processors are reportedly affected stretching back a decade or more, AMD seems not to be affected, and if so, in an extremely minor way compared to the stunning Intel debacle.
