KPMG to acquire Cyberinc cyber security business

KPMG LLC, the independent US member firm of global professional services firm KPMG, is to acquire the Identity and access management business of Silicon Valley-based Cyberinc, which provides cyber security solutions globally.

According to KPMG, the acquisition of Cyberinc, pitched as the largest global independent IAM technology provider, would enhance its existing capabilities as a leader in information security consulting services and expand the firm’s ability to provide clients with newer and more agile IAM solutions.

KPMG also says the transaction also bolsters its talent and resources in the rapidly growing area of digital consumer identity and privileged user management, which are evolving security-focused capabilities to enhance important elements of customer-engagement.

Formed following the acquisition of a start-up founded by former SpaceX chief information officer, Branden Spikes, Cyberinc’s IAM business is a 190-person global team with a significant presence in the US, India, Australia and the UK.

{loadposition peter}Under the acquisition, in Australia, up to 25 Cyberinc staff will join KPMG, further boosting the domestic firm’s IAM capabilities following its acquisition of First Point Global in March 2015.

“Cyber security remains a top risk to organisations as threats grow in scale and cyber criminals develop new ways to access protected information,” said Gordon Archibald, national lead, Cyber Security Services, KPMG Australia.

“Cyber security also presents an opportunity for enterprises to find new growth engines and innovate amid this disruption. KPMG’s IAM solutions team can help clients across all industries to protect their information and ensure that these security efforts enable their digital strategies and growth plans.”

According to Archibald, KPMG’s strong position with existing alliance partners Sailpoint, Axway and IBM in this space, along with its recently announced alliance with ForgeRock, would be further enhanced by the transaction with Cyberinc to better enable information security for large enterprises, while pursuing new digital interactions and business transformations.

“As organisations innovate and transform their back, middle and front offices, identity and access management solutions that effectively bridge the gap between risk mitigation and customer experience are key to driving sustainable growth,” said Archibald. “The addition of the Cyberinc team and capabilities is yet another example of how KPMG is investing in cyber security and helping clients succeed on their digital journey and build digital trust across the enterprise and with their clients.”

Cyberinc is a subsidiary of Aurionpro Solutions, a global technology product and solution provider headquartered in Mumbai, India and San Ramon, California.
