Roxy Jacenko, new Stan SVOD ambassador, shows off bedroom TV on 'wrong' wall

PR guru, lifestyle entrepreneur and author Roxy Jacenko is being paid by SVOD service Stan to be a brand ambassador, but is her bedroom TV on the wrong wall?

If you have a TV in your bedroom, do you have it so that you can lie in bed normally, and watch TV on a wall opposite your head, or do you have your bedroom TV to the left or right of where you place your head?

For some reason, Ms Jacenko has her TV on the left hand side of her bed (see photo below), which is useful if you lie on your side and have your face towards your left wall, but it isn't the place I'd put my bedroom TV.

Of course, Ms Jacenko is about a bazillion times more successful than I am, and can damn well place her bedroom TV anywhere she wants - it is a mostly free world (at least in Australia) after all, but it did strike me as odd.

{loadposition alex08}In any case, SVOD service Stan has announced "a new partnership with Roxy Jacenko, the Sydney-based business leader and author, who will be a brand ambassador for Stan over the next 12 months".

Jacenko said: “I am thrilled to be part of something that allows me to spend quality family time on my time. Not to mention Stan has the greatest selection of shows, from after work wind down to early risers (you know who) there’s something to watch that will guarantee quiet time for at least half an hour. I am excited to begin the journey with Stan over the next 12 months and see which shows will quickly become my favourite."

Now, whether the TV is the best way to spend family time is in serious question, because shouldn't your kids be studying or learning Mandarin so they can make fun of Sam Dastyari, or learning martial arts or helping around the house or whatever it is they should be doing rather than watching cartoons? But then hey, let kids be kids, I suppose.

When I received Stan's email, I thought we might be seeing a reality show based on Jacenko's life, but instead, this partnership just gives Jacenko lots of money so that Stan can state that, "as an entrepreneur, working mother and wife, Roxy’s busy fast-paced lifestyle doesn’t leave much time for leisure".

It also enables Stan to state that "Stan is the perfect entertainment solution for her and her family: given Stan enables subscribers to stream their favourite TV shows, movies and kids programs on their favourite devices. Stan offers unlimited access to thousands of hours of entertainment, with an outstanding line-up of exclusive premieres including Younger, UnREAL, Billions, all new Will & Grace, SMILF, Sherlock and Power".

Stan is also able to give Jacenko money to tie in the upcoming end-of-year season, stating that "with the school and summer holidays about to commence, now is the perfect time to watch the best Stan shows on-the-go. Stan subscribers can download and watch the newest hits and binge-worthy obsessions anywhere and anytime, without wi-fi, giving them the convenience of a truly mobile experience during the holiday period".

And, we're told that Stan is "Perfect for families like Roxy’s who will be out and about this summer, Stan offer a huge line-up of kids TV shows to download and go from leading entertainment brands Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and ABC for Kids, including Powerpuff Girls, Ben Ten, Paw Patrol, Hey Duggee, Ready Steady Wiggle and many more, so plenty to keep Pixie and Hunter entertained".

To kick-off the partnership, Stan says "Roxy and her family have shared their favourite shows to binge on:"

ROXY

  • POWER – Nothing like a bleary eyed Monday morning due to a Sunday binge of Power. Better than a hangover I guess? I am HOOKED. With the new season not starting until next year you have plenty of time to catch up on 4 seasons of 50 cent.
  • UNREAL – Watching this will change your perception on reality TV forever. I binge watched an entire series in one Sunday afternoon whilst I wrapped the kids presents– the new season is on my hit-list for February.
  • ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS – Christmas Specials – given it is the festive season it only seems fair to get stuck in to some outrageous Patsy & Eddy antics. If you get hooked on these you have 3 seasons available to you. ;

HUNTER

  • TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES – When watching this it is imperative you watch in full Teenage Ninja get-up. Best thing about this is that you can watch on repeat even when the rest of the family are catching up on their favourite shows in the other room.

PIXIE

  • POWERPUFF GIRLS – All I want for Christmas is a Blossom doll and back to back episodes of The Powerpuff Girls. Mum doesn’t know it yet but if she thinks she is getting anywhere near the TV this Christmas – she has another thing coming.

There's no word on what Jacenko's husband likes watching - perhaps he'd appreciate "Orange is the New Black," but that's on a rival SVOD network.

So, there you go. There's no "Keeping up with the Jacenko's" TV show. It's just a way for Stan to get some publicity. Maybe Stan wants to give me some money so it can talk about tech people loving to watch shows like Philip K. Dick's show, or other tech shows?

Give me a call, Stan, and let's make a technology show, rather than this silly blather about what Roxy Jacenko and her kids like watching, because one thing is for sure - the vast majority of families in Australia do not have Jacenko's wealth, and don't have matching pyjamas, either!
