Kidstuff completes pre-Xmas move to BigCommerce platform

Australia toy retailer Kidstuff has successfully migrated its online store to the BigCommerce ecommerce platform.

Kidstuff says it chose to partner with BigCommerce as well as RANDEM , a Sydney-based digital consultancy, in order to create a web experience that better reflected its customer-centric ethos.

Kidstuff, whose bricks and mortar stores are operating in 50 locations around Australia, first expanded its business online in 2012 but soon found the considerable cost and time associated with managing its technology infrastructure distracted from key product and marketing efforts.

And the company’s prior platform suffered a major outage during the peak holiday selling season last year, resulting in lost sales.

Instead of getting bogged down by technical overhead, we can focus on the things that produce net positive outcomes for our business: products, marketing, and most importantly, customer experience,” said Myles Fleming, business manager of operations, IT, and marketing, Kidstuff.

“Even more critically, we know we can count on BigCommerce to automatically scale going into the holiday season where we do a massive portion of our yearly sales. With BigCommerce, you don’t have to worry about the engine — you just drive the car.”

Kidstuff worked with RANDEM to build a new look website in 65 days.

“To deliver on our mission of encouraging the development of a child's mind and imagination through toys, we apply strict criteria to our product selection. We employed a similarly rigorous process when choosing BigCommerce as our platform partner, and RANDEM has been there every step of the way to help make the most out of our implementation,” Myles said.

“Working with RANDEM has been instrumental in helping us do more with our web store and creating a better ecommerce experience for customers.”

“BigCommerce is built to help merchants like Kidstuff translate an existing in-store experience into an online presence that reflects the brand’s passion for educating and delighting its customers,” said Jordan Sim, group product manager, BigCommerce.

“Australian retailers shouldn’t have to spend countless hours and dollars on operational performance or complexity, and they should never have to wonder if their site will hold up during traffic spikes or whether there is a consistent cross-channel experience. We make ecommerce easy so that beloved retailers like Kidstuff can be at their best in every interaction.”
