Excelera – a new Aussie small business system helps them grow

Aussie software developer David Kong, founder of Excelera, wants Australian small business to be able to compete with big business.

Unable to shoehorn his business into the many cloud-based accounting offerings he took the bold step to write his own – a fully scalable cloud-based subscription offering that is 100% customer focused rather than accounting general ledger-oriented.

Exclera David KongDavid Kong, Founder and developer of Excelera, said, “While small businesses are driven by the passion and vision of the business owner, most often they forget to put in place an integrated ecosystem to nurture the business. They might start with various apps and software only to realise that they don’t talk to each other.”

“Using multiple standalone applications can create operational inefficiencies as the business grows that can severely impact on the ability of the business to keep growing. It can become a very difficult glass ceiling to break through. Our goal is to help Australia’s large base of small businesses get it right from the beginning and shave years in getting their processes right,” he added.

His philosophy is that you cannot have a business without customers so why not start with a CRM (customer relationship manager), then add on a sales lead, sales pipeline, quote creator and an invoice creator. Of course, it has a GL, Payroll and other accounting functions.

At the back end, you need excellent customer support so there is a support ticket and task view to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

In another bold move, he has eschewed upfront capital costs (CAPEX) in buying the software up front – it is all based on OPEX - a low per user per month cost.
