Microsoft mistakenly releases broken Windows 10 build

Microsoft has accidentally released a build of Windows 10, to those who are part of its Insiders programme, that bricks mobile devices.

A blog post by MS PowerUser senior editor Mehedi Hassan said internal build 1621 that had been released sent mobile devices into a boot loop.

Getting out of this loop requires the use of the Windows Device Recover Tool.

"The build is believed to be available to Windows Insiders in the Fast, Slow, and Release Preview rings," Hassan wrote.

{loadposition sam08}"However, we’re also hearing that the build is rolling out to some regular users who aren’t part of the Windows Insider programme and that’s certainly quite worrying."

The PC build was believed not to have any serious issues, but Hassan cautioned against installing it.

"If your device has already started downloading the build, simply disconnect from the Internet to stop the download," he advised.

"And if the build is ready to be installed, try setting your device’s time to 2050 and that should cancel the build’s installation."
