Former Australian Taxation Office security chief, Steve McCauley, has been appointed as a principal consultant by Canberra-based CTO Group.
McCauley has left the ATO to join CTO as a principal consultant in CTO’s Strategic Advisory and Consulting practice.
Prior to his shift to CTO, McCauley was Assistant Commissioner responsible for the cyber security operations and strategy of the ATO.
In this role at the ATO, McCauley oversaw delivery of a new Security Operations Centre and helped reshape and modernised the organisation’s security culture, services and IT methods for managing complex cyber risks.
{loadposition peter}He also provided security advice and support to facilitate the ATO’s move into cloud computing.
CTO Group chief executive Kane Fillingham said he was pleased to welcome McCauley “at a time of rapid growth” for the company.

According to CTO chief strategy officer Andrew McLintock, the complexity of the cyber security field is rapidly increasing, as major organisations grapple with a sophisticated threat landscape and the requirements of an evolving regulatory environment.
