Forcepoint adds new capabilities to cloud security apps

Cyber security firm Forcepoint has added new security capabilities to its cloud security applications aimed at providing protection for business and government employees plus data and IP against ransomware and phishing attacks.

Included in the new offering are cloud app discovery and risk assessment; data loss prevention security analytics; advanced malware for cloud access security brokers; and a certified cloud service offering that increases compliance with the EU's general data protection regulations.

The company claimed these enhancements would enable customers to fully use the cloud or to use hybrid cloud and on-premises security as part of their business strategy.

The aim is to provide visibility and risk reporting for potential incidents and technology deployed throughout an organisation, including shadow IT - where employees use their own applications without permission - and where data and cloud applications could bring both innovation and risk.

"Even external attacks ultimately involved attackers targeting and taking advantage of insiders and using user authentication credentials."

“We see the partnership growing between the CIO and CISO to implement solutions that securely enable the business shift to cloud computing while remaining in compliance with data privacy laws such as GDPR,” explained Kris Lamb, vice-president and general manager of the Cloud Security business at Forcepoint.

“By providing more visibility to applications and data on the network regardless of location, Forcepoint is delivering innovation and value that enables security teams to focus on high-risk employee behaviours required to protect all users throughout the enterprise.”
