emt Distribution signs Airlock Digital

SA-based security distributor emt Distribution has added Airlock Digital's application whitelisting products to its portfolio.

Application whitelisting is the first item on the Australian Signals Directorate’s "essential eight" list of security measures.

The idea is simple: only allow approved software to run. Any new pieces of malware are thus automatically blocked. But in practice, it's more complicated than it sounds and so application whitelisting is not as widely used as it should be.

Airlock Digital’s software is said to be easier, quicker and cheaper to use than alternative approaches to application whitelisting, making it suitable for organisations of all sizes.

{loadposition stephen08}For instance, it can monitor the process of applying application patches and installing updates on one system, then create policies that allow those changes to be made on other systems.

"Airlock Digital not only makes application whitelisting easier, its broad availability will address the shortage of cyber security skills that prevents many organisations from implementing it to protect themselves against targeted attacks," said emt CEO Richard Rundle, who is also a co-founder of Airlock Digital.

emt's range already covers endpoint security, threat detection, vulnerability management, data loss prevention, and remote monitoring and management.
