Square has announced its integration with point-of-sale and order management platforms including Vend, TouchBistro, Posboss, Abacus, SalesIn, Mobi2Go and Boppl. This provides access to affordable hardware, fast deposits, and online payment solutions.
It has also released a new contactless+chip reader that works equally well with credit cards and NFC-equipped smartphones – and it is aimed at small business who want a foolproof, low-cost, e-payments system.
Ben Pfisterer, Australia Country Manager at Square, said “Square’s new integrations enable more sellers to have access to payments services that are optimised to their business needs. We’re empowering Australian merchants to run and grow their business with the tools they need while enjoying the benefits of the Square ecosystem.
"More sellers can now access Square’s seamless payment processing, affordable hardware, fair and transparent pricing and fast deposits, integrated with their preferred platforms.”
“Square is a perfect partner for us, with our shared focus on creating beautiful in-store customer experiences and giving better tools and choice to growing retailers. The contactless+chip reader also works with Square’s Virtual terminal adding a retail oriented, card-present device to the system.
It costs $59 from Square and is in more than 1000 retail locations nationall. It is stocked in Officeworks, Apple, Optus and Harvey Norman stores.
Sellers can accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express payments at a rate of 1.9% per transaction for any card type. There are no long-term contracts, hidden or recurring fees to use Square to accept card payments.
The Contactless and Chip Reader allows sellers to accept tap-and-go transactions from contactless cards and mobile wallets such as Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay. It also accepts EMV chip card transactions, and there’s a backup magnetic-stripe reader included in the packaging to enable sellers to accept international credit cards without an EMV chip.
The USB-chargeable, battery-powered reader utilises Bluetooth Low Energy and works within six metres of a smartphone/tablet. All data has 128-bit AES encryption.
