GitHub, a company that provides Web-based access to the git version control repository, says that after a year in Australia it has signed up a number of high-profile customers, including ANZ Bank and accounting software provider Xero.
Other well-known firms from the ANZ region to use GitHub are online residential property company REA Group, Link Digital, Practiv (New Zealand), Computer Sciences Corporation, and IBM Bluemix.
The company said that its first Australian employee joined in January 2016 and it now had 24 local workers in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
It claimed revenue growth of 50% for its GitHub Enterprise offering in the ANZ region over the past year.

Git was created by Linux creator Linus Torvalds back in 2005, when free licences for BitKeeper, the proprietary version control system he was using, were withdrawn by its owner Larry McVoy. Since then, the main maintainer for git has been Japanese developer Junio Hamano.
GitHub hosts a total of 52 million projects globally with 20 million developers involved.
