Moto G5 and G5 Plus – quality smartphones at affordable prices

The Moto G “heritage” is one of premium features without a premium price tag. The all-new Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus remain true to this legacy, delivering what people want most without a premium price.

The newest members of the Moto G family feature crafted metal design – a first for Moto G - and powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processors.

Described by mobility media at Mobile World Congress as “The best budget phones just got better”, these devices start from US$299 for the 3/32GB version and feature a 5/5.2” screen, Qualcomm quick charge 3.0, almost pure Android 7, and sturdy aluminum frame construction.

Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus will be available beginning in March in various countries across Latin America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America.  Australian pricing and availability for the G5 and G5 Plus will be announced soon.

The Moto G is proof that a premium phone with a great camera does not have to cost A$1000 or more. The Asian competition knows this and has all but annihilated high cost, snob brands in China and elsewhere.

Moto has a strong US heritage and is now owned by Lenovo – you can read the back story here. It is one of the few brands that could upset the Applecart in the next few years.

While there are compromises to bring them in at a lower cost none affect usability and the G5 and G5 Plus are good value for what they offer.
