Former Woolworths senior executive Emma Gray has been appointed as the ANZ Bank’s first chief data officer.
Gray was previously chief loyalty and data officer at Woolworths and, prior to the supermarket chain, was a partner at Bain & Company, working across the United States, Europe and Australia for 15 years.
As ANZ’s chief data officer, Gray will have responsibility for the bank’s data strategy, including how data is defined, gathered, managed and protected.
ANZ’s group executive Digital Banking, Maile Carnegie, said Gray would play a crucial role in ANZ’s digital transformation.

Gray, who will be based in Sydney, has an MBA from Harvard Business School and is on the board of the Melbourne Business School Centre for Data Analytics.
