NAB's Christmas gift: no online or phone banking

Three days before Christmas, National Australia Bank's banking services have gone down, with customers unable to use both phone and Internet banking services.

NAB acknowledged the problem on its Twitter account, saying: "Some of our services including IB (app & browser) & phone banking are currently unavailable. We're really sorry & working to fix asap."

Later it posted this tweet: "We're sorry for the trouble this morning. Our services are starting to come back online. We’ll continue to monitor and stabilise our systems."

On Facebook, users gave vent to their frustrations. One wrote: "That's great but the only reason I need my online services are to transfer money between accounts which I can't do so still can't go bloody Christmas shopping for my family thanks again nab! Always stuffing up!!"

A third said: "So I bank with another bank and because of ur issues my pay is late and I've been slugged late fees are you going to cover my charges."

Contacted for comment, a NAB spokesperson responded:" NAB experienced an outage to some services for a short period on Thursday morning. NAB will continue to monitor services and is working hard to stabilise our systems. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused."
