Optus has upped the ante in the battle by telcos for the hearts and minds of mobile phone and broadband users, giving mobile and fixed broadband customers new content as part of their entertainment packages and a boost to their mobile TV streaming service, including free access to Yes TV by subscription TV provider Fetch Entertainment.
With the new offer, new and existing eligible Optus mobile customers that sign up to the telco’s $90 Entertainment Plan (minimum total cost over 24 months is $2880) will get the Yes TV by Fetch Entertainment Channel Pack included for the life of the plan, at no additional cost.
And, Optus boosts its free offer, giving customers a Wi-Fi-enabled premium personal video recording (PVR) device with 1 terabyte of space for recording TV programmes.
As well as free access to Fetch, the Optus’ entertainment plan gives customers access to an unlimited broadband data allowance and unlimited standard calls to local and national fixed lines, and Australian mobiles – and a subscription to Optus Sport with access to Premier League and Cricket Australia content.

Under the new offer, new and existing Optus customers on selected My Plan Plus/Business and My Mobile Broadband Plus/Business plans can watch a range of Australian and international content — especially designed to encourage interactivity in primary school aged children — through the ABC ME app without tapping into their monthly data allowance, by paying $10 extra per month.
With Mobile TV streaming, Optus customers will get access to:
• Data-free streaming from Netflix and Stan (paid subscription required);
• Data-free streaming of all ABC channels and on demand from ABC iview;
• Data-free streaming of the dedicated preschool children’s app, ABC KIDS iview; and
• Data-free streaming of the dedicated primary school children’s app, ABC ME.
Ben White, managing director of Marketing and Product at Optus said, “Optus has moved the goal posts this year and has built on the already great range of entertainment across our fixed broadband and mobile plans. We know customers are hungry for entertainment so we’ve made it easy to access our great range of content alongside the great value mobile and home broadband plans we’ve been offering our customers for years.”
