Vaya takes it off for Christmas

Vaya has temporarily reduced its 12-month plan prices hoping to cash in on the number of smartphones heading for Aussie Christmas stockings.

It would be good to report that Vaya had permanently reduced the cost of selected mobile plans by as much as one third, but even a temporary price cut of that magnitude is worth noting.

A seasonal promotion running until 11.59pm on Christmas Eve sees substantial price cuts on Vaya's 12-month prepaid mobile plans.

The Unlimited XL plan including 8GB of data gets the full 33 percent discount, reducing the effective monthly cost from $33 to $22.

{loadposition stephen08}The cheapest unlimited talk and text plan (Unlimited S with 1GB of data) works out at $10 a month during the promotion, a saving of 31 percent. But if it suits you to accept limits on the included calls in return for more data, the Power Plan with 1.5GB is temporarily the equivalent of $12 a month rather than $17.

Rounding out the range, there's 25 percent off Unlimited M with 2GB of data and 29 percent off Unlimited L (8GB), making them effectively $20 and $24 a month respectively.

All these plans are intended for personal use only.

“A new smartphone can be an awesome gift to find under the tree, but if it’s not paired with the right plan it can often end up coming at a surprising cost for the next 12 to 24 months,” said Vaya marketing manager Jennifer Snell.

“Taking away someone’s phone bill for the next 12 months is a gift that keeps on giving,” she added.

Vaya uses the Optus 4G Plus network.

The company was acquired by Amaysim early this year.
