Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has extended its Hitachi Content Portfolio (HCP) with the addition of Hitachi Content Intelligence to improve information exploration and discovery.
Hitachi Content Intelligence aggregates data from multiple sources, enabling quicker insights, more complete data management and governance, and improved understanding of the distribution of data around an organisation.
Early adopters include Dutch banking and financial services company Rabobank, US-based legal discovery service provider Precision Discovery, and the US National Archives and Record Administration (NARA).
NARA uses HCP and Hitachi Content Intelligence with its largest electronic records collections that include emails, photos and documents.
{loadposition stephen08}"We selected Hitachi Content Intelligence over competing Solr-based implementations or building our own, due to its use of a flexible software developers kit and its integration with HCP. In addition, we know the architecture will not constrain what we want to do with the platform," said Jason vanValkenburgh, vice president at Hitachi Consulting, which provides project management and application development for the project with HDS Federal and prime contractor ViON.
HDS senior director of emerging technologies Scott Baker said "For today's enterprises, data is the most strategic asset, and connecting the right people to the right data in a timely and meaningful way is critical to staying relevant and competitive in their market segment. Hitachi Content Intelligence lets customers organise, transform and package organisational data into factual information, making it invaluable to the business."
Hitachi Content Intelligence provides a consistent, self-service search process across the entire IT environment, automatically identifying infrequently accessed data and moving it to a lower-cost object storage tier.
It can be deployed on physical or virtual servers, or hosted in public or private clouds, and can scale to to more than 10,000 instances.
