Telstra has launched ‘Australia’s first mobile leasing plan to help SMBs stay up to date with the latest technology.’
Australian small to medium businesses are being offered the ability to ‘lease their mobile phones and upgrade after 12 months – even if the screen is cracked – with Telstra’s new My Business Mobile Lease plans.’
Telstra proudly boasts its ‘new 24 month mobile plans allow customers to lease, rather than own, handsets which can be upgraded for a flat fee after 12 months.’
Telstra Business Executive Director, Brendan Donohoe, noted that the new leasing plans, which are the first of their kind in the Australian market, ‘provide businesses with an easy and more affordable option to keep their staff connected with the latest mobile technology.’

Donohoe said: “The way we do business in Australia is changing, driven largely by mobile technology. Having a more mobile workforce with access to all the right apps, systems and tools can improve efficiency, open up business opportunities, encourage better collaboration and provide staff with more flexibility to balance work and home life.
“Just like cars, computers or office furniture, leasing business tools like your mobile phones makes sense. Customers could save up to $10 per month depending on the handsets and lease plan combination they choose compared to our standard post paid mobile plans.
“In addition, we know that business owners and their employees want to upgrade their devices on an annual basis as new technology becomes available, and things like cracked screens and repairs can add stress and cost for our customers so we want to help with that too,” Donohoe continued.
So, what does Telstra say the benefits of its ‘My Business Mobile Lease Plans’ include?
- Customers can upgrade any time after 12 months for just $99 ($0 if they sign up before 24th December) when the phone is returned in good working order and they recontract to a new 24 month handset and service plan.
- If the customer’s screen is cracked, they can still upgrade after 12 months for $229, for phones damaged beyond repair the fee would be up to $499
- After 18 months, customers can upgrade their device for $0, provided their current phone is returned in good working order.
- For even greater peace of mind, customers can add Assure to their plans for an extra $10 per month, which allows them to upgrade a damaged phone at any time and in any condition for a flat fee of $190 when they recontract to a new 24 month service and handset plan.
- Telstra also says its My Business Mobile Lease plans also include generous data allowances, calls to standard Australian numbers, unlimited text messages, One Drive for business, Office 365 and more.
Saying that it is part of its ‘commitment to recycling and sustainability,’ Telstra notes that ‘all devices returned as part of the My Business Lease plans will be refurbished and reused.’
