It may well be frosty in space, but on Earth, things are hotting up for Sky and Space as it wins Frost & Sullivan’s prestigious Global Technology Innovation Award for 2016.
With previous winners of Frost & Sullivan’s ‘Global Technology Innovation Award’ including Cisco, AT&T, and ViaSat, Sky and Space has joined a constellation of top companies recognised for out of this world innovation.
The award recognises Sky and Space Global’s ‘industry leading innovative nano-satellite technology and first mover status in the nano-satellite industry.’ The specific title of the award is ‘the 2016 Technology Innovation Award for Global Narrow-Band Nano-Satellite Connectivity Services,’ and will be presented at Frost & Sullivan’s gala event in London during February 2017.

Sky and Space Globa’s visionary nano-satellite offering has the potential to bring reliable and affordable communications and connectivity services to remote locations across the equator once launched, and progressively over the next few years after launching, to the entire planet.
The Frost & Sullivan Report states: “The investment made by Sky and Space Global is in a fail-safe mode, guaranteed to deliver returns, irrespective of how the market forces impact the communication technology evolution. Furthermore, in recognition of management’s expertise and growing industry profile, SAS has recently presented at multiple globally renowned space conferences including Reinventing Space, London. The management team is scheduled for further conferences and space roadshows in the near term and will provide an update to the market following completion.
Some points of distinction for the Sky and Space Global (SAS) nano-satellite business are:
- SAS is the first to deploy a network of nano-satellites to deliver connectivity services. (Only used by universities before);
- SAS will be doing this by supporting existing telecom operators and service providers, helping them expand their network and services;
- The fact that the system can be expanded - from 3 nano-sats to 50, to 200 - shows that SAS is able to scale its business as consumer base grows;
- SAS has created such a s system that is adaptable to technological change, rendering it fail-safe and guaranteed to deliver returns. This is done by designing a nano-satellite constellation in such a way that replacement and addition of new satellites will be carried out on an ongoing basis;
- SAS is building a network management system that will enable the constellation to manage, monitor, and control itself in an automated fashion.

Sky and Space Global reports making ‘strong progress towards the launch of its initial 3 nano-satellites, “3 Diamonds” in Q2 2017. Following the successful commercial in-flight demonstration of the initial 3 nano-satellites, the Company plans to launch a full constellation of up to 200 nano-satellites from mid-2018 to provide equatorial communications coverage.’
