Consumer complaints about services provided by Telstra and Optus dropped in the three months from July to September, contrasting with a rise in complaints for other telecoms service providers, including Vodafone.
Overall, telco complaints to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) as a proportion of services in operation (SIO) dropped 3.1% in the July-September quarter to 6.2 complaints per 10,000 services in operation (SIO).
Telstra recorded a drop to 6 complaints per 10,000 services from 6.8 for April and June, while Optus went from 7.7 to 7.2 in the July-September quarter.
But, complaints per SIO to Vodafone increased from 3.8 in the April-June quarter to 6.2 for the three months July to September, with report noting that the Vodafone result of 6.2 matched the average result across all participants.

The joint TIO/Communications Alliance report says the July-September reduction was driven by improvements in the number of complaints per SIO for both Telstra and Optus, while other telcos registered increases in their TIO complaints per 10,000 SIO this quarter.
The Complaints in Context quarterly report is jointly published by the TIO and Communications Alliance.
