The Information Technology Contract & Recruitment Association (ITCRA) has merged with the Association of Professional Staffing Companies Global (APSCo Global) to form a new organisation – APSCo Australia.
The announcement was made at ITCRA’s annual gala dinner in Melbourne on Thursday by ITCRA president Robert Fischer and Ann Swain, chief executive of APSCo Global.
Fischer said ITCRA members had voted unanimously to support the merger with APSCo Global and become part of an organisation that spans the United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong and Germany.
“The opportunities will continue to unfold over time, but rest assured the day-to-day business of representing the needs of professional staffing companies across our target verticals: IT & Telecommunications, Engineering, Banking, Finance & Insurance, Graduate Recruitment and Accounting; will continue but with a greater depth of resources and an expanded membership base.”
{loadposition peter}Fischer said ITCRA had developed into a recognised voice for the ICT recruitment sector, and “this has, over the past few years, evolved into a voice that other companies in the broader professional staffing sector want to be part of - and the ITCRA directors have responded to this demand".
Swain said a merger with ITCRA has been of great interest to APSCo Global “as the vision, goals and membership standards of both organisations are synonymous, and our strategies for the future are so closely aligned”.
“APSCo Global recognises the mobility of the professional workforce and the importance of organisations that represent that workforce. It is becoming more and more important to have a global voice on issues related to the role of staffing companies, have standards that are recognised across borders by clients and regulators and to provide statistics and metrics that truly highlight our worth to economies across the globe,” Swain said.
Fischer and Swain said the most significant factor from the merger would be a “unified lobbying and advocacy programme with respect to the value of a mobile, flexible, professional workforce, managed by quality recruitment organisations in multiple locations”.
“APSCo Australia will not change the way local directors, committees and the secretariat operate – nor will it change the support members receive or the direction on issues and programmes. What will change is the access to increased resources, cross-border recognition and the engagement of a global voice on important issues affecting the sector,” Fischer said.
