Global electronics and imaging company Epson has unveiled its new 4K PRO-UHD projector, in its most significant home entertainment launch to date.
The 4K PRO-UHD label is a term Epson coined to comprise a suite of three key technologies — a philosophy even, it says — powering this latest generation of projectors, delivering stunning levels of brightness, colour and detail at a compelling price point.
The initial launch of the 4K PRO-UHD range sees three devices available now - EH-TW8400, EH-TW9400 and EH-TW9400W.
The EH-TW8400 is HDR10 compliant to take advantage of HDR content while delivering equal colour and white brightness. It can also display the full DCI-P3 colour gamut in Digital Cinema Mode, an extreme level of colour performance that is 50% wider than typical 1-Chip Rec. 709 projectors.
{loadposition david08}The EH-TW9400 enhances these features and specifications, and the EH-TW9400W does the same but wirelessly so you can enjoy amazing images without needing an HDMI cable.
Despite the name, it’s important to understand the 4K PRO-UHD range is not native 4K. Instead, it uses Epson’s proprietary pixel-shifting technology embedded in dedicated high-power hardware processors, one each for resolution enhancement, HDR and image processing.
This means the projector has a native 1920x1080x2 resolution, but delivers a high-quality 4K cinema experience in brightness, colour and detail due to its processing power and detailed attention to all the components in an image. The range was specifically designed so movies can be shown how they were meant to be seen, namely on a big screen with no rainbow effect and with clear colouring via LCD panels dedicated to each primary colour.
The end result is brilliant brightness, crisp colours, and dramatic detail.
Other features on the EH-TW8400 include 100” screen 3.0 at 6.3-metre projection distance, 2600 lumens, two-year warranty, 15 glass element 2.1x zoom lens, up to 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and frame interpolation.
The EH-TW9400 and EH-TW9400W up the ante with 5,000 hours of lamp life, 2.1:1 zoom, 1,200,000:1 contrast, anamorphic lens support, 3LCD technology, and three-year projector and lamp warranty.
The models are available now from Epson and retailers with RRPs of
- EH-TW8400 – $4099
- EH-TW9400 – $4799
- EH-TW9400W – $4999
