The Russians are being blamed for ‘hacking everything,’ which is why, in the UK at least, the Apple Watch is being banned from Gov’t cabinet meetings.
The Verge is reporting that the Apple Watch is being banned in the UK over ‘Russian hacking fears’.
Meanwhile, Fairfax Media in Australia is reporting that the Apple Watch is likewise being banned from Australian Gov’t cabinet meetings over hacking fears.
In Australia, cabinet members are reportedly already banned from taking in phones.

Naturally, with the Apple Watch able to act in conjunction with a paired iPhone to make and receive phone calls, it is a communications device that can, in theory, be hacked.
After all, anything can theoretically be hacked, so it’s no surprise to see cabinet meetings - which are some of the most sensitive meetings governments can have, presumably outside of Defence Department meetings - which means no go for the Apple Watch.
You’d have to imagine this would apply to other smart wearables that contain microphones, such as various Android Wear and other smartwatch devices.
Future Apple Watches are expected to come with a SIM-card slot, allowing them to be fully independent smartphones.
Other smart watches from Samsung and others already have this capability.
More information is available at both links above, but clearly, if in doubt, then take if off and out of the room in question so that all hackers can hear is the sweet sound of nothing.
