Netgear says its new ProSafe WAC740 premium 802.11ac 4x4 Wave 2 wireless access point provides market-leading cost:performance when combined with the ProSAFE M4200 multi-gigabit managed switch.
Aimed at high client density environments, the WAC740 features multi-user MIMO Wave 2 802.11ac WiFi with a claimed throughput of up to 600Mbps on 2.4GHz and and 1.7Gbps on 5GHz.
Other features include internal antennas (with the option of using external antennas), 802.2at Power over Ethernet (with the option of a power adaptor), and support for bonded dual GbE connections or a single 2.5G Ethernet link.
Up to 600 WAC740 access points can be configured and managed through a single management dashboard in conjunction with the Netgear wireless controller suited to the size of the installation: WC7500 (small), WC7600 (mid-sized) or WC9500 (large).
