No solace for Uber as Ola officially launches in Sydney

Australia’s newest ridesharing platform launches in Sydney with "free rides for customers and increased earnings potential for driver-partners".

Following its successful launch in Perth, Ola, which bills itself as "one of the world’s largest ridesharing platforms," has now officially commenced operations in Sydney, which is bad news for Uber and other competitors, and good news for consumers.

The company states having hired "a local team to build partnerships and support driver-partners," and that anyone in Sydney can experience the new service "at an introductory offer for free rides from today".

Ola notes: "The first three rides are free up to the max value of $25 each and 50% thereafter during the promotional period".

{loadposition alex08}Ola says its customers "can download the Ola app from the Android Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, register for an Ola account and begin booking rides. Rides can also be booked to and from Sydney Airport, for drop off and pick up in the designated ridesharing area".

Proudly boasting of "taking a refreshing approach to ridesharing," Ola said its focus "is on investing in driver-partners and supporting them with new technology, training and ways to increase earnings."

Since launching in Perth, Ola explained its service "has received a strong response from driver-partners with over 7,000 registrations. By enabling driver-partners to provide the best experience possible, we know customers in turn will have a high-quality journey at an affordable price".

Chandra Nath, Vice President, Head of International, Ola said: “We are excited to officially start operating on the east coast with the launch in Sydney.

"We’ve been very pleased with how the service has been received by customers, driver-partners and the community in Perth, and can’t wait to continue building on these experiences and learnings for our launch in Sydney.”

In the coming weeks, Ola promised to "continue rolling out of a number of new initiatives for both customers and driver-partners.

"For customers this includes: New promotions, clear ways to share feedback and a higher-quality ride as we support and enable our driver partners to provide this.

"For driver-partners this includes: New earnings programs, community town-halls, fuel offers and other vehicle services - alongside 24/7 partner support."

Driver-partners can learn more about driving and registering with Ola by visiting the Ola driver-partner part of its website
