The consumer business group of Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei has announced the release of a notebook, tablet and commercial terminal device on the eve of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The company released the Huawei MateBook X Pro (seen below), the Huawei MediaPad M5 Series and the Huawei 5G customer-premises equipment, the world’s first commercial terminal device supporting the globally recognised 3GPP telecommunications standard for 5G.
It said the devices featured new design and performance advances, and "showcased the power of technology to deliver innovative computing experiences ready for the mobile world".
The Huawei MateBook X Pro is an ultra-slim, but full-featured 13.9-inch notebook with the new 3K touch-enabled Huawei FullView Display and 91% screen-to-body ratio.
{loadposition sam08}It is powered by an 8th Generation Intel Core i7/i5 processor, a discrete Nvidia GeForce MX150 GPU with 2GB GDDR5 and a 57.4Wh battery.
The company claims this makes it one of the lightest and most powerful notebooks on the market. The MateBook X Pro features Dolby Atmos Sound and custom speakers making sound flow above and around the user
The MediaPad M5 Series has a 2.5D glass screen and 2K HD, ClariVu 5.0-enhanced display and comes in two sizes: 8.4-inches and 10.8-inches.
Huawei Histen technology provides immersive 3D audio and fully supports Hi-Res audio. The 10.8-inch MediaPad M5 Pro has an M-Pen featuring 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity.
The 5G CPE is available in indoor and outdoor configurations and provides download speeds of up to 2Gbps and can operate on both 4G and 5G networks.
It adopts Huawei’s internally developed Balong 5G01 chipset – claimed to be world’s first commercial chipset supporting the 3GPP standard, compatible with all 5G frequency bands, including sub-6GHz and millimetre wave.
“At Huawei, we’re guided by a vision of an all-connected world, and to achieve that goal, we invest significantly in research and development to understand the ways in which people interact and connect with technology,” said Richard Yu, chief of Huawei's consumer business group.
“We’ve made it our mission to push the boundaries of what technology and innovation are capable of. With the introduction of the new Huawei MateBook X Pro, Huawei MediaPad M5 Series and the world’s first 3GPP 5G CPE, we are delivering on the promise to provide breakthrough devices that redefine every part of the mobile computing experience."
