Lithium batteries are hot topics at present. It appears that a new Apple iPhone has exploded in transit.
According to a post on Reddit, the damage was complete and it is unknown if it occurred through handling or other reasons.
Perhaps the best or funniest comment was, “F*&^*#g Apple, always stealing from Samsung.” Although I also like “It’s not defective, it’s a feature. Embrace it.”
The photos do indicate that the explosion came from within e.g. no blowtorch evidence on the outside, and the packaging does appear damaged by a puncture. Apple is yet to respond.
