Large multinational technology vendor Lenovo has issued a global recall for the 5th generation Lenovo Carbon X1 notebook.
The Lenovo Carbon X1 is a popular, powerful and highly portable business-grade notebook.
Lenovo today announced a global voluntary recall of notebooks in this product line that were manufactured between December 2016 and October 2017. Lenovo will provide customers free-of-charge service inspections for all recalled notebooks.
The affected systems will have a build date in that range and will have product numbers beginning with MT, 20HQ, 20HR, 20K3 and 20K4.
{loadposition david08}You can identify if your notebook is affected by entering its product code and serial number into a special website for this recall, and then following the contact details provided if the site determines you need to act.
Specifically, Lenovo advises an unfastened screw can damage the battery, causing overheating and in turn posing a potential fire hazard. Lenovo states there are no recorded instances of any fires, but that to date three customers have experienced the unfastened screw coming loose, and the multinational has issued the voluntary recall as a precaution to avoid any risk.
For maximum safety, Lenovo recommends affected customers to turn off their notebook and refrain from using it until the service inspection is complete.
