High-speed Internet service provider MyRepublic is celebrating its first year of business in Australia, and celebrating many milestones "including consistently ranking number 1 on Steam for average download rates."
Topping the most recent Ookla table of the fastest ISP, or "RSP" being retail service provider as NBN Co likes to call then, MyRepublic has a lot of things to celebrate over the last year.
The company claims seeing "exponential growth in their customer base, gaining 60,000 subscriptions in its first year and claiming up to 3% of the nbn orders placed by customers every month."
During its first twelve months of operations, MyRepublic has also "launched a number of initiatives to raise awareness and has been a consistent and strong advocate of fair nbn pricing of high speed internet for all Australians."
{loadposition alex08}Nicholas Demos, MyRepublic's A/NZ MD said: "Everyone deserves reliable, high-speed internet that is always available. Just like any other vital part of Australian’s lives, they don’t want to wait for the internet to start working.
MyRepublic provides the top nbn™ speed tier available up to 100Mbps and wants to be able to offer consumers affordable 1Gbps speeds. As a result, Demos sees NBN's current promotional pricing focused on the 50 Mbps access virtual circuit (AVC) as a good step, but as not going far enough.
"Any pricing improvement is of course is good. We're not going to say no to any price improvement. We’re proud to have played a part in the improvements being made and in the industry recognising the importance of speed.”
Looking forward, MyRepublic says it "has expressed its commitment to ensuring all Australians are able to access a better faster internet offering."
Group CEO, Malcolm Rodrigues, who is in Australia to celebrate MyRepublic’s 1 year milestone said: “The country is justifiably demanding internet connectivity that’s comparable to other leading nations around the world.”
Furthermore, MyRepublic plans to launch as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in Singapore and Australia - adding more competitive fuel to a very competitive MVNO fire down under!
Rodrigues said: "We're building a platform in the cloud. We'll probably launch it in Singapore in Q1 next year. Right now, we're testing it, with the aim of launching it in March. This is all part of our commitment to running a lean, efficient operation and passing on the resulting benefits to our customers.”
In July of this year, the company proudly boasts having launched its "Gigatown campaign, promising to service one Australian town with one Gigabit per second internet speeds for one year. The campaign showcased the benefits of lightning-fast internet speeds, a service currently not offered by any other ISP in the country."
The winner of the competition, Fletcher Thompson, co-founder of Me3D, praised MyRepublic for offering Wollongong the chance to experience world-class internet service.
“I’ve seen first-hand the wealth of benefits that Gigabit speeds have delivered in Wollongong. If the rest of Australia had the chance to experience the same thing, I have no doubt there would be nation-wide demand for Gigabit internet access”, Thompson said.
To support the initiative, MyRepublic also revealed research earlier this year "proving that three in four (76%) of Australians are keen to experience internet speeds of 1Gbps or more."
