HP's new Mixed Reality headset, which is actually a virtual reality headset rather than an augmented reality headset, is naturally being billed by HP as "the perfect present for the tech-head in your family!"
What makes it special, even though the Windows Mixed Reality headsets are all relatively similar?
We're told that the "HP Mixed Reality Headset delivers cutting-edge visual quality (1220 x 1220 resolution per eye) that blurs the line between real and digital".
{loadposition alex08}Plus, "the overall experience is enhanced with a 90Hz refresh rate", but the caveat here is that this is only "when paired with a Windows Mixed Reality Ultra PC" – which is something HP is happy to sell you, no doubt.
In addition, HP's headset "comes with motion controllers that provide accurate tracking of hand and arm movements. There’s also six degrees of freedom with no tracking boundaries".
Want the promise of a hassle-free Christmas Day playing in virtual worlds rather than tearing your hair out trying to figure out how to set something up?
HP says you can "jump straight into the action on Christmas Day with an easy start up. There’s no hassle in setting up additional peripherals thanks to its integrated motion tracking".
And, "with an ever expanding content library, you can enjoy the headset for months to come".
Of course, that should really be "years to come", but perhaps with the speed at which tech moves, the HP Windows Mixed Reality Headset 2.0 will probably arrive sometime next year, so I guess what HP says is true!
