Amazon is making a play for the sports audience in its Prime Video line-up for October, but the geek market isn't overlooked.
Next month's headline show for Amazon Prime Video will be Thursday Night Football. These NFL matches will only be available live, with kickoff at 11.25am AEDT.
Coverage of the season actually starts on 28 September with the Chicago Bears v Green Bay Packers match. (NB, that's before Daylight Saving Time starts.)
Amazon is catering for non-fans with an additional UK English audio track aimed at those unfamiliar with the game. Interestingly, Tommy Smyth — well known to viewers of ESPN's soccer coverage — will be providing analysis, with commentary from Ross Dyer or Derek Rae.

October's games are New England Patriots v Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5th), Philadelphia Eagles v Carolina Panthers (12th), Kansas City Chiefs v Oakland Raiders (19th) and Miami Dolphins v Baltimore Ravens (26th).
Turning to drama, there's season one of Amazon Original superhero show The Tick (premieres 13 October), season three of coming-of-age comedy Red Oaks (20 October), and "real life" horror series Lore (13 October).
Amazon Prime Video costs US$2.99 per month for the remainder of this year, and US$5.99 thereafter.
