Telstra has issued no media release, but will have the new iPhone 8 models, and presumably the cellular Apple Watch Series 3 too, in its stores from 22 September.
Pre-orders for the two new iPhones start today at the Telstra website, from 5.01pm, with plans and pricing to presumably be unveiled at that time, too/
Optus will too, and it has already announced it will provide a “a six-month cellular trial of Apple Watch buyers".
Telstra hasn’t said what it is doing price-wise, but you’d expect a similar move, and as soon as its PR people let us know, we’ll let you know.
{loadposition alex08}Telstra will have details of its Apple Watch Series 3 offering at this part of its site at some point soon, although it’s not there yet.
That said, Telstra did announce it is doing a lot of work with eSIMs, the tiny, non-removable SIM card in all Apple Watch Series 3 devices, which you can read about at iTWire here.
I also covered the fact that Telstra and Optus would be first to deliver Apple Watch Series 3 in Australia, according to Apple’s own keynote, with Vodafone set to offer it “later this year".
Telstra hasn’t provided any quote, but given the cookie cutter quote issued by the relevant Optus managing director of Marketing and Product, Telstra’s quote is likely to be: “The launch of the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus is a really exciting event for Optus and we can’t wait for our customers to get their hands on these devices, as well as the latest Apple Watch Series 3.”
As for the iPhone X, Apple’s futuristic smartphone soon to be in all our tomorrows, “will be available to pre-order at Telstra on 27 October”, because there’s simply no way Optus will offer it without Telstra offering it too.
