With Mexican eatery “Guzman y Gomez” one of the first Braintree merchants to integrate Apple Pay in Australia, it surely won’t be the last. Olé!
Paypal-owned service, Braintree, has announced it is enabling Apple Pay and Android Pay for its merchants in Australia through “Braintree Direct.”
With just a few lines of code, “merchants will now be able to add both Android Pay and Apple Pay to their checkout process quickly and easily.”
Carolyn Breeze, Braintree’s Australian chief, noted the company’s support for “both mobile wallets in Australia will allow merchants to offer richer commerce experiences by giving their customers greater flexibility and choice at checkout.”
{loadposition alex08}Breeze said: “We know Australians are spending more time on their mobile devices than ever before. With the majority of Australian consumers now shopping on mobile, it is becoming increasingly important for merchants to offer the most relevant and secure forms of payment.
“At Braintree, we have always been focused on partnering with merchants to deliver the most robust commerce experiences for their customers, and to support international expansion for those merchants who wish to grow their reach.
“We have been an early partner to Android Pay and Apple Pay as their reach has expanded around the world, and we are excited to continue this growth alongside them.”
Authentic purveyor of fine and fast Mexican food, Guzman y Gomez (GYG), is one of the first Braintree merchants in Australia to integrate Apple Pay.
We’re told that, “with more than 80 restaurants (and counting) in Australia, it is the nation’s fastest growing fast food company. The integration will allow customers of the popular food chain to use Apple Pay when ordering their favourite Mexican dish in its app.”
Steven Marks, Co-Founder and MD at Guzman y Gomez said, “We give our guests the absolute best and that means never compromising on the experience they have at GYG — whether we’re talking about authentic flavours on our menu or the convenience and ease of ordering.
“Staying at the forefront of technology is so important to us, so partnering with a trusted payments provider like Braintree to integrate Apple Pay was a natural choice. It’s the next step in delivering a market leading app and user experience.”
So, if you thought Braintree already offered some support of Apple and Android Pay, you’d be right, with the new announcement building on Braintree’s “existing support of American Express cards in Apple Pay and Android Pay, extending support to Visa and Mastercard in Australia.”
