Apple’s product launch due 12 September, 13 in Australia: report

A new report "confirms" 12 September as the date Apple will make its new product announcements, which are expected to reveal three new iPhones, a new Apple Watch and more.

Ok, so the official invites from Apple have not yet arrived in the email inboxes of select journalists around the world, but WSJ is reporting that people in the know say this is definitely the date.

Obviously, as all of the rumours have relentlessly revealed, three new iPhones are expected – two that are supposedly going to have a similar form factor to the existing 7 and 7 Plus models, and a new model with very slim bezels all around, dubbed the iPhone 8.

Some people say the 7 and 7 Plus successors will be named the 7s and 7s Plus.

{loadposition alex08}However what seems more likely is that there will be the iPhone, the iPhone Plus, and then the iPhone Pro, rather than having numbered phones this time around.

That said, only Apple’s inner circle and Foxconn employees know the truth, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Americans are fretting that the new iPhones will cost more than US$1000, but Australians know this pain only too well.

Indeed, should there be an iPhone Pro with 512GB of RAM, this particular configuration may well cost over A$2000 in Australia, a price point that would make Americans presumably go bonkers.

There’s also talk of a new Series 3 Apple Watch with LTE, which will apparently be for data rather than phone calls, a bit like an iPad can have a SIM card but can't make calls over the cellular network.

One thing is for certain, all of these endless rumours are tiring, and they’re mostly nonsense. Apple will launch what Apple will launch when it is ready to launch it, and you can be assured it will be better than before, with new features old iPhones did not have. It will cause a lot of excitement, huge lines, massive sales and will make some rumour mongers look like idiots.

The WSJ article has a lot of other rehashed padding, speculation and quotes from analysts who pretend to know what they're talking about, which you can knock yourself out with here
