VIDEO Interview: Patrick Johnston, the savvy Savvius VP in the Spotlight

Network performance management company Savvius has launched its new distribution partner in Australia, and its PartnerOne programme alongside its entire suite including the new Savvius Spotlight.

Savvius. The company says it offers “a broad range of best-in-class products for network performance management".

These include:

  • Savvius Omnipeek, the award-winning packet analysis software for network performance and security investigations;
  • Savvius Omnipliance high-speed packet capture and analysis appliance;
  • the Savvius Insight micro appliance for network management and security in remote offices; and
  • the Savvius Omnipliance Ultra, a dramatic advance in identifying and solving network performance problems and locating network security issues.

Omnipliance Ultra appliances also feature Savvius Spotlight, a new technology that dynamically ranks every transaction across the network, making visible the specific information needed to troubleshoot problems and significantly reduce Mean Time To Resolution (MTTR) of network issues.

{loadposition alex08}For those running networks of any kind, these sound like formidable products to help manage ever growing networks, traffic and more across massive distances and huge numbers of network devices – with Savvius’ technologies needing to keep up with the rapid pace of the rest of the industry, and vice versa.

So, with Savvius already having customers in Australia, it was time for the US-based company to announce not only a distribution agreement with inTechnology Distribution for Australia & New Zealand, but to also open its PartnerOne programme.

Billing inTechnology Distribution as “the primary distribution partner preferred by local resellers”, Savvius’s agreement sees inTechnology distributing and supporting “the full range of Savvius products to resellers and solution providers throughout Australia and New Zealand”.

Patrick Johnston, vice-president of Worldwide Sales at Savvius, whom I video interview below, said: “Savvius is happy to welcome inTechnology and their partners to the PartnerONE programme to provide quality solutions and integration know-how to our customers across Australia and New Zealand.

“inTechnology’s long history with partners and customers in the networking and service provider marketplace is based on a commitment to customer service that aligns perfectly with ours.

“We look forward to developing a strong presence in the Australia and New Zealand region by working with the networking experts at inTechnology and their impressive community of value-added resellers. inTechnology’s broad line card of complementary vendors, some of whom are also Savvius Technology Alliance Partners, further adds to this relationship,” Johnston added.

Mark Winter, chief executive, inTechnology Distribution, said: “inTechnology has built up a very strong networking and Wi-Fi technology portfolio and not only does Savvius fit into this perfectly, their technology also adds strong analytic and forensic capabilities to our product offering for partners across the region.

“We have appointed a dedicated Australia and New Zealand Channel Manager, Phil Lancaster, specifically to support this new relationship with Savvius and to focus on building a strong channel in the region.”

For those wondering, the Savvius PartnerONE programme is a “global, multi-level partnership programme focused on supporting channel partners with front-end deal registration to increase margins, effective sales tools and customised on-site and online sales and technical training".

“Savvius’s STAP partners include: Cisco, Gigamon, Ixia, Elastic, Palo Alto Networks, APCON, Garland Technology, Network Critical, Datacom Systems, IBM, CheckPoint, Fortinet, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Procera, Aruba, Ekahau, Meru and Extreme Networks.”

So, in meeting Johnston and some of the inTechnology team, I decided to talk to the former about Savvius and ask him to tell us about the company, its products and services and how they help businesses needing network performance management, and to tell us about Savvius’ move to properly support customers in the region.

We get to see some of Johnston’s presentation, hardware, the Savvius Spotlight interface in action, advice Johnston has received in life to help him get where is today, and any closing messages for iTWire viewers, readers and for Savvius and inTechnology’s current and future customers.

So, here’s my interview with Johnston – please enjoy!
