Entertainment Book finally goes digital, still helps fundraising

The Australiann “activity guide” with discounts, known as “The Entertainment Book”, is still in print but has finally gone digital, too.

We are told that the “digital membership provides all the benefits of the physical book” while adding the “convenience of mobility and the chance to give back.”

The app has a mapping feature, letting you search for nearby deals in real time.

While that might sound like a Bluetooth beacon and advertising executive’s dream come true, the app doesn’t do any of that but relies upon you to open the app up to see what entertainment deals are on offer around you that you can evaluate and consider to take advantage of, there and then, or in the future.

What sets "The Entertainment Book” and now its “Digital Membership” apart from any other kind of deal or offer, is the fact they are “exclusively sold through community fundraising organisations supporting not for profit and local community groups.”

And because of this noble goal, which has been in operation for many, many years, the companies listed in the book actually offer a range of generous deals, making the book, the fundraising and the benefits it provides a worthwhile win-win-win deal.

We are told the book is “filled with hundreds of ‘up to 50% off’ and ‘2 for 1’ offers across dining, travel, shopping, beauty and accommodation,” with the books that span various areas collectively offering a range of valuable discounts from over 10,000 merchants across Australia.

Naturally, the different editions feature offers from different companies, however - starting from just $60, depending on which edition you require, it only takes one or two offers to be redeemed to easily make this initial cost back in savings.

Which is yet another win and another reason why the book has survived all these years, and clearly why more than enough companies return to the book each year to help the fundraising efforts while gaining new customers.

As the book’s makers explain, “charities, schools, hospitals, rotary and sporting clubs, as well as research foundations and surf lifesaving clubs are just a few of the entities who benefit from the Entertainment fundraiser each year.”

The Book is also “involved with charities such as the Cancer Council, JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and Canteen and since 1994, the company has generated over $78.5 million for over 16,000 different fundraising groups across Australia.”

Like I said, the book is a success all round, or it wouldn’t still be here today, and that’s why I’m more than happy to help with a bit of promotion - with no consideration coming to iTWire, it’s just info worth passing on, especially as you'd think it would have gone digital already - and now finally has!

So, as the book’s makers say, “whether it be saving up for a family holiday or trimming day to day costs like petrol and groceries, the Entertainment Book has practical discounts for everybody no matter what their stage of life.”

Whether it’s fine dining and 5 Star resorts, or good old fast food outlets and budget motels, the Entertainment Book people work “closely with a wide range of businesses across the country including Woolworths, David Jones, Freedom, and Hoyts Cinemas to name a few.

And, as it must, we’re told “the app offers all of the deals provided in the book, even including some added bonuses.”

Heidi Halson, the GM of Entertainment Publications said: “Entertainment Memberships are all about discovery and encouraging people to try new places. We’re often told people find restaurants and experiences they never would have heard about otherwise.

“The Entertainment Digital Membership opens the offers up to a more spontaneous diner who wants to be reminded of opportunities while they are on the go.”
