South Australia is participating in a Singapore conference aimed at exploring new opportunities from emerging technologies, and their impact on skills and international trade.
The Third Australia-Singapore Relationship Conference — to be held on Monday, 24 July — will be hosted by the University of Adelaide’s Institute for International Trade, and its Singapore-based Asia Growth Research Centre.
The theme of this year's conference is technologies, skills and globalisation: Impact on Trade and Growth in Australia and Singapore and the conference is designed to coincide with the state government's trade mission to South-East Asia.
The South Australian Minister for Investment and Trade Martin Hamilton-Smith said the event was a “unique opportunity to bring together some of the top minds from South Australia and the South-East Asian region to discuss how changes in technology and the change in demand for skills will have a positive impact on opportunities for international business in both Singapore and Australia”.

As part of the conference, experts from the University of Adelaide and the South-East Asian region will consider the challenges and opportunities presented by disruptive technologies, such as how technology will change the way production is organised and how trade flows, what the impact will be on the demand for skills in the region and the value of better connectivity between trade partners.
