Recent moves by China to more firmly crack down on VPNs has seen a decree that VPNs must fully barred by Feb 2018, but NordVPN will fight the move.
Well known and highly secure VPN service NordVPN has just commented on the recent promise by the Chinese government to crackdown on VPNs.
According to Bloomberg, the Chinese government has ordered local telecommunications companies to “completely block access to VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) by February 2018.”
This is made easier when the local telecommunications companies, and thus ISPs being China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom, are all state-owned.

Now, as many tech-savvy people know, and especially those from the west who have travelled to China (and many Chinese in China), VPNs have been as NordVPN describes them: “the best-known loophole in the Great Firewall, which isolates China from most of the outside world.”
As Nord notes, “millions of people in China – locals and tourists alike – use VPNs daily to access the global web, including such sites as Google, Twitter and Facebook or news websites like The New York Times that are blocked in China.”
It’s at this point that NordVPN naturally takes the opportunity to promote itself, stating that it is “one of the most secure VPN service providers in the world,” and that it “is currently strengthening its position in the Chinese market with an app for Windows, soon to be followed by Mac, iOS and Android apps.”
NordVPN’s CMO, Marty P. Kamden said: "NordVPN stands for freedom of speech and free access to Internet around the world. When it comes to China, nothing is ever certain, and that’s the approach we took from the get-go.
“It’s not yet clear how the Chinese government is going to implement the ban from the technical point of view. However, we at NordVPN will do everything within our power to enable our users to continue enjoying the Internet freedom.”
So, we know the geeky tech nerds at Nord are looking for ways to preserve the VPN cord that blows the gourd of Chinese officials.
Meanwhile, we praise the Lord as the fight continues to use the sword that is Nord to pierce the Great Firewall, and be the mouse that roared in the face of the mighty Chinese horde rushing headlong toward those floored by untoward Government opposition to VPN technologies.
Good luck!
