High-achieving students from the Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) are this week taking part in a program focussed on the future of the ICT industry and the opportunities it will provide.
The 3-day industry focused education and training program is designed to provide students with a practical insight into the future of the ICT industry.
The program includes workshops with the Communications Alliance, Internet of Things Alliance Australia, Huawei technical experts and a visit to the Optus National Operations Centre.
Huawei runs two programs under the Seeds for the Future umbrella and, in November, another 30 students from ATN universities will embark on a two-week study tour in China where they will visit Huawei’s exhibition centres, logistics hubs and R&D facilities, and experience life on campus at the Beijing Language and Cultural University.

ATN Executive Director, Renee Hindmarsh says Huawei’s industry-focused stream of the Seeds for the Future program provided ATN students the chance to see first-hand “some of the great innovation happening here in Australia”.
“We are excited to be able to offer more ATN students the opportunity to gather real-world experience in one of the largest ICT companies in the world," she said.
“We’ve seen first-hand the benefits students get when they are able to interact with leading industry experts, learn practical skills, network and connect with other like-minded individuals in a business environment.”
Huawei Australia manager, corporate relations and programs, Lisa Connors said Seeds for the Future was really about knowledge sharing.
“Huawei is sharing its global knowledge and experience to help fuel the future of the ICT industry.
“Through our partnership with the ATN we continue to develop the talent that will be vital in shaping the next generation of ICT innovation.”
