Motorola Solutions has been selected as the official radio communications supplier for the Commonwealth Games which are scheduled to be held on the Gold Coast in 2018.
The deal will see Motorola’s TETRA digital radios and its Zeon Digital network used to keep sporting venues connected to information while helping to keep crowds moving and spectators and athletes informed and safe.
The Zeon Digital network will provide communications and expansive coverage with more than 6000 radios to be used across the Gold Coast and Brisbane and in other regional centres, including Townsville and Cairns.
The global, 11-day sporting event is expected to attract 6600 athletes and team officials from 70 nations and territories, 15,000 volunteers and be broadcast to a cumulative international audience of 1.5 billion.

And internationally, Motorola has provided essential communications to public safety agencies responsible for safety and security at some of the world’s largest sporting and public events.
Commonwealth Games Minister Kate Jones welcomed Motorola as the official radio communications supplier for the Games.
