Ecommerce platform BigCommerce has sealed a deal with on-demand delivery company Zoom2u to provide same-day shipping services to Australian merchants natively.
Under the deal, businesses selling on BigCommerce will be able to offer a range of expedited shipping options at checkout, which the company says allows shoppers to have orders delivered in as little as three hours.
BigCommerce says the Zoom2u integration will also enable merchants to provide real-time courier shipping quotes at purchase, while maintaining a single view of order fulfilment in their store control panel.
“The partnership is good news for retailers who wish to improve their customer experience before the Amazon marketplace opens locally,” said Jimmy Duvall, chief product officer for BigCommerce.
{loadposition peter}“Every day merchants lose out on millions of dollars in sales due to shipping-related abandoned carts. By providing greater control and flexibility over shipping and delivery options, our merchants will now be able to deliver unique experiences that encourage loyalty and repeat purchases.”
And, according to Steve Orenstein, chief executive and co-founder, Zoom2u, on-demand and personalised delivery services have become a vital extension to successful online businesses.
“Traditional courier companies have not yet shifted their business models to cope with the substantial growth in B2C orders driven by ecommerce, and with Amazon’s pending arrival in Australia, merchants can take advantage of this partnership to offer more convenience to their customers.
“Delivery is the only face-to-face interaction a customer will experience when buying online, so a positive experience is vital for repeat business. Our technology offers more control to help customers know when their courier is arriving which improves customer loyalty, retention and satisfaction.”
The BigCommerce deal with Zoom2u comes as recent research found 85% of online shoppers expect to see multiple shipping options at checkout, and 43% of Australian shoppers are willing to pay more for same-day shipping – while an additional study showed 16% of online shopping carts are abandoned due to customer dissatisfaction with slow delivery times.
Zoom2u is now available to eligible BigCommerce customers in Australia, with expedited delivery service available in the Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth metro areas.
