PayPal poaches UK airline exec to Australia

PayPal went offshore to find a new executive for its business in Australia, with former EasyJet UK senior manager Anthony Drury appointed to a newly created role of head of business to business.

Drury has joined PayPal Australia with the title of director enterprise business after previously working for EasyJet and for American Express where he held senior positions over 12 years with the company.

Drury is responsible for leading PayPal’s sales, relationship management and strategic growth with enterprise customers.

Libby Roy, VP and managing director for PayPal Australia said Drury’s strong record in sales and strategy development will be a great asset to the PayPal Australia business.

Roy said Drury had business development experience across a wide range of international businesses and industries including aviation, travel and tourism, payments, ecommerce and engineering, and was also an experienced non-executive director, having held positions on boards across a range of industries including tourism and technology.

“I am excited to be joining PayPal at a time of unprecedented change and innovation. I look forward to further enhancing the already strong strategies PayPal Australia has in place,” Drury said.

Roy said PayPal globally was experiencing a period of growth and in Q4, 2016, the company facilitated 1.8 billion payments, up 23% on the previous quarter as well as US$99 billion in total payment volume, up 26%.
