What I am about to say might seem crazy, but I’m as appy as Pharrell Williams to let you know the SBS On Demand app for iOS has now added Chromecast compatibility.
If you love watching your SBS On Demand on your iOS device, and you have a Chromecast, or there's a Chromecast where you'll be visiting, you may well wish to clap along to the news that SBS has finally added Chromecast functionality on iOS devices.
This allows users to “cast programmes from SBS On Demand’s premium international and multilingual library to their TV screens to enjoy anytime, anywhere, and free".
Naturally, the feature is already available on the Android version of the SBS On Demand app.
{loadposition alex08}However, SBS tells us that “the Chromecast upgrade comes at the same time as the streaming service announces the exclusive Australian premiere of the highly anticipated adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s award-winning novel The Handmaid’s Tale – available to stream in full from Thursday 6 July".
SBS has been busy keeping its app updated.
Proof of this comes from last year’s SBS On Demand update having rolled out “a complete user interface upgrade to enhance user experience, including a brand new video player, smoother navigation, improved search functionality, ability to add shows to a favourites list, and playback resumption.”
For those living under a rock or somewhere deep in outer space, SBS reminds us that its SBS On Demand app “is a world of inspired entertainment – a curated selection of over 6,000 hours of premium world class-drama, documentaries and movies from across the globe".
It competes against other free services like the ABC’s iView, as well as all those paid services like Netflix, Stan, Foxtel Play and others.
