At the F5’s successful Sydney and Melbourne Agility 2016 events, the company shared how applications, availability and security are part of the enterprise’s new digital norms.
F5. The company says that it "helps organisations seamlessly scale cloud, data centre, and software-defined networking deployments to successfully deliver applications to anyone, anywhere, at any time", which does sound pretty agile.
The company proudly boasts that it delivers "Applications Without Constraints" and notes that "48 of Fortune 50 companies rely on F5".
As part of the Agility 2016 event, the company explained that "applications have become the new norm for enterprises, driving their needs across the business in a mobile world".
"As such, their availability is more important than ever. Application services are the hidden foundations to ensure applications have the necessary performance and security to survive increasing data loads and cyberattacks."

With the appointment of new country manager for F5 ANZ, Rob Malkin, F5 says it "has a renewed regional focus on delivering essential applications to ensure firms continue to be productive".
The company also states it is "revamping its security posture to cover all points of exposure on an application level, which is necessary when the blanket protection of a firewall is no longer sufficient to protect the business".
I was offered the opportunity to interview Malkin, John DiLullo, executive vice-president, F5 Networks, and Kuna Nallappan, regional director for APAC, F5 Networks, so I did, with all three executives in the same video, which is embedded immediately below. A summary of the questions follows thereafter.
I introduced all three gentlemen, and asked them to give us an introduction to F5 and where it is today.
We also looked at some career highlights of all three.
We then discussed the F5 Agility 2016 event, what it was about, and the top three key takeaways they hoped everyone would walk away with.
Then we look at F5’s position in the Australian technology market, who some of its customers are and what the main growth areas are for the company.
How F5 differentiates itself from competitors was examined, as were some of the challenges F5’s customers are currently facing globally and how F5 is working to address these.
Naturally, we looked at the biggest security issues facing the industry, and what businesses are looking for in new security solutions. We also looked at what the new security posture is on the application level in the face of specialised cybersecurity threats.
We spoke more about apps, about the opportunities for F5 and its customers in the A/BZ market, the future of the industry, great advice and final video interview messages to the readers, viewers and F5’s current and future customers.
