Hisense unveiled two 4K ULED series 8 and 9 televisions at the 2017 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix – the latter with its version of Quantum Dot technology.
Quantum Dot has been exclusive to Samsung and while Hisense/Sharp’s implementation may be different the theory of using different nano-sized dots to display RGB colours is similar. Samsung calls its technology Quantum Dot 2.0 and is working on version 3.0 that will see QD pixels emitting their own light, as in OLED.
ULED is Hisense’s premium 4K screen technology and involves more local dimming zones to improve dynamic range. Its existing series 7 achieved 99.98% of the DCI-P3 colour volume. It says the series 8 and 9 will have “HDR supreme” meaning these have reached the 1000 nit requirement of HDR+.
Andre Iannuzzi, head of marketing at Hisense Australia, expects to Hisense to continue to be one of Australia’s best-selling brands once the impressive new models hit the shelves later this year. “With the Series 8 and Series 9 TVs, we have managed to consolidate all the elements people loved about our Series 7 TVs and create a visually improved, more streamlined user experience across the new models. Look for them from July.”

VIDAA U can also detect any connected external devices, and comes pre-installed with an array of popular services including Netflix, Stan and Freeview Plus. The dedicated Netflix button on the remote will ensure easy access to as much HDR Netflix content users can handle.
