NetComm Wireless joins CBRS Alliance

Australian-listed communications firm NetComm Wireless has joined the CBRS Alliance, the global organisation dedicated to the development and adoption of LTE-based solutions utilising the shared spectrum of the US 3.5 GHz Citizens Broadband Radio Service band.

Steve Collins, Chief Technology Officer, NetComm Wireless says the shared spectrum approach is expected to drive both in-building and outdoor coverage and capacity expansion at immense scale using LTE-based CBRS solutions to meet surging wireless demand.

Collins says NetComm believes that the 3.5 GHz band will overcome network management challenges and enable opportunities that reduce costs, increase the speed of deployment and optimise performance and quality of service by facilitating Wireless-as-a-Service.

"Cellular data demands are escalating at a remarkable rate, and most of that usage is happening indoors where the delivery of consistent cellular coverage and capacity presents a challenge for network operators,” Collins says.

{loadposition peter}“NetComm Wireless is committed to extending the trusted zone and enabling network-wide control, and we believe that spectrum sharing will provide a distinct competitive advantage."

Timo Brouwer , chief operating officer, NetComm Wireless says the CBRS Alliance aims to enable a “robust ecosystem towards making LTE-based CBRS solutions available and we are pleased to join our industry partners to drive the uptake of cost-effective LTE CBRS services as wireless data demands intensify”.
