MWC – Mobile World Congress 2017 announcements

New smartphones are coming from Huawei, LG, Nokia, Sony, Moto and many more at the MWC that runs in Barcelona, Spain from 27 February to 2 March. More than 2200 companies are exhibiting.

We know that:

  • Huawei will announce the P10 and Plus flagship replacement for its P9 and surprisingly the Huawei Watch 2.
  • LG has its new G6 which is the first with an 18:9 screen (2:1) and amazing screen to body ratio.
  • Nokia will relaunch its 3310 – a feature phone with push buttons expected to sell 100 million units this year and the surprise is the Nokia 6 Android smartphone.
  • Sony will announce five new X series
  • Moto has its mid-range G5 and Plus, and more Mods
  • BlackBerry (under licence to TCL) will have a new KeyOne model
  • Samsung is holding back its Galaxy S8 until 29 March but will announce the Galaxy Tab S3 and more

The emphasis this year will be on AI, machine learning and VR plus more on IoT – home automation, driverless cars, and new gadgets.
