Telecommunications and Internet services provider Spirit Telecom has deployed its claimed “superfast” Internet network in Melbourne’s iconic 297.3-metre high Eureka Tower building to service 575 apartments.
According to Spirit Telecom managing director Geoff Neate, Eureka residents — in the city’s riverside Southbank area — now have access to “robust, unlimited downloads and uploads, running at speeds up to 200/200Mbps” accessed from Spirit's own independent fibre backbone which runs through the spine of the tower.
Neate says the distribution of superfast Internet is made possible by a "Switched Ethernet" that is installed throughout the building and, for “powering up” the Internet throughout Eureka Tower, Spirit has deployed its network via an optic fibre backbone over 90 levels.
“As a non-NBN alternative, Spirit’s network provides more choice for the prestigious residential facility. The installation has been the result of months of planning with Eureka’s management, resulting in meticulous standards being applied to ensure the best internet experience for residents,” Neate says.

According to Neate, since December the Spirit team has “successfully installed large and complex builds in some of the more significant buildings across Australia – SPC Towers on the Gold Coast, Vogue apartments, South Yarra, and now Eureka Tower in Melbourne”.
“These examples alone, demonstrate the strength and attractiveness of our network infrastructure capability.”
