Amit Pau has taken over as chairman of telecommunications services company Norwood Systems from Michael Edwards who was appointed chairman when Norwood listed in mid-2015.
Pau is an existing non-executive director of Norwood and has more than 20 years experience in the technology, media and telecommunications industries including at Vodafone where he was managing director for international accounts and business markets.
Pau, who is based in Europe, also led the divisional units of AT&T and Global TeleSystems where he launched e-commerce products which achieved significant scale.
The Australian-listed Norwood (ASX:NOR) announced the board handover saying that Edwards, who continues as a non-executive director of Norwood, has recently taken on an executive position with an ASX company and the role had affected his capacity to act as chairman.
{loadposition peter}The handover comes as Norwood’s distribution agreement for World Phone, and other corporate sales initiatives on Corona, continue to drive the company’s focus and sales efforts towards the enterprise and travel and loyalty segments.
And, the company says Pau’s experience and clear focus on the strategies by which growth stage companies can transition to breakthrough levels of expansion will provide “critical additional impetus for Norwood in these efforts”.
Pau said he was pleased to accept the handover of the chairman role, noting his predecessor had made a “significant contribution as chairman”.
“I am passionate about helping companies exploit disruption to transform their business, and Norwood is clearly poised to be part of the significant disruption hitting the telecommunications sector," he said.
"Our go to market efforts with Norwood are now starting to bear fruit, and I look forward to continue help drive these efforts to deliver significant growth.”
