One of the websites belonging to the openSUSE project, a SUSE Linux-supported organisation that develops a community Linux distribution, was defaced earlier this week.
Dr Roy Schestowitz, who runs a website known as Techrights, was the first to publicise the defacement.
It appears that the site which was defaced was the news.opensuse.org site.
The openSUSE project has not issued any public statement about the incident.

Open source projects are usually open about website compromises and hacks. When the openSUSE forums were hacked in 2014, the project released details soon after the event.
The openSUSE distribution has about 600,000 users, Richard Brown, chairman of the project. told iTWire last year.
Contacted for comment, Brown said: "I can confirm news.opensuse.org got defaced. That server is isolated from the majority of openSUSE infrastructure by design, so there was no breach of any other of openSUSE's infrastructure, especially our build, test & download systems.
"Our offered downloads remain safe and consistent and there was no breach of any openSUSE contributor data. We're working with the hosting provider to remedy the situation and encourage process improvements to prevent it happening again."
